Architecture is the art and science of designing and constructing building and other physical structures. The term architecture is also used for the profession of providing architectural services.Seperate from
the design process, architecture is also experienced through the services, which therefore gives rise to aural visual olfactory and tactile architecture. Architecturural work is also perceived as cultural and
political symbols. Historical civilizations are often known primarily through their architectural achievement, cities, region and cultures continue to identify themselves with their architecture. The practice of architecture includes planning ,designing and oversight of a buildings construction by an
architecture.The work of an architecture is an interdisciplinary field,science,art,technology,social sciences, politics and history all mixed into one.
APPLICATIONÂ OF THE TERM:
The word architecture comes from the Latin, architecture and ultimately from Greek arkhitector, while the primary application of the word architecture pertains to the built environment, by extention, the term has come to denote the art and discipline of creating an actual plan of any complex object or system.
THEORY OF ARCHITECTURE:
A good building should fulfill three basic criteria
-Durability -it should stand up durable and remain in good condition.
-Utility-it should be useful and function well for the people using it.
-Beauty-it should delight people and raise their spirits.
According to Vitruvius, the architect should strive to fulfill each of these three attributes as much as possible.
Modern architecture is primarily driven by technological and engineering developments and it is true that the availability of new building materials, such as iron, steel, concrete and glass
drove the invention of new building techniques as part of the industrial revolution.
